Who we are

This website is run by Tannadice Motors Limited, a company registered in Scotland, company number SC537874, whose registered office is the garage itself at 5 Annfield Road, Dundee DD1 5JH. We are the data controller for everything described here.

When you send us a message

We collect what you type into the form — your name, your phone number and/or email address, your vehicle’s registration, make and model, and your message — together with any photos you attach and which page you sent it from.

We use it only to answer your enquiry, quote for work and book your vehicle in. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.

You do not have to give us any of it, but we cannot reply without a way to reach you, which is why the form asks for either a phone number or an email address.

Keeping the form usable

We also store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and your browser type, to spot and block automated abuse of the form. The hash cannot be turned back into your IP address. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the enquiry form working for real customers. You can object to this — see your rights below.

Photos you send

Photos are attached to the email that reaches us and are also held on our server in the UK, so we can look at them again while we are dealing with your enquiry. They are deleted along with the rest of the enquiry — see how long we keep it.

MOT bookings

The booking diary on our Book online page is provided by MOT Manager (bookinmycar.co.uk). Details you enter there go to that service so we can manage your booking, and it may set its own cookies.

Who else handles it

• Purple Imp builds and hosts this website, on a server in the UK.
• Postmark delivers the website’s emails to our inbox. It may process data in the United States under the UK’s international data transfer safeguards.
• bunny.net delivers the website’s pages quickly and protects it from attacks. It sees technical information such as your IP address, and it also serves the fonts the site uses.

What we don’t do

• We never sell your details, and we never use them for marketing.
• There is no analytics and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
• Nothing here is decided about you automatically, and we do not profile you.
• Our own web server does not keep an access log of the pages you visit.
• The map on the contact page is an image we host ourselves, so looking at it does not tell anyone else you were here.

How long we keep it

Website enquiries, and any photos sent with them, are deleted automatically from this website and its server 12 months after you send them. Copies in our email inbox may be kept for as long as we need them for our records — for example, where work was carried out on your vehicle.

Cookies

This website doesn’t set any cookies of its own. The MOT Manager booking diary is loaded from its own servers and may set some of its own when you use it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete it;
• restrict what we do with it while something is being sorted out;
• hand it over in a portable form, or send it to someone else;
• stop using it, where we are relying on our legitimate interests.

Email or call us using the details above and we will deal with it. You will not be charged, and we will normally reply within a month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You can do that whether or not you have raised it with us first, though we would rather have the chance to put it right.
